Dial specializes in graphic design, advertising and online marketing

Access Publishing’s graphic designer DuPree Dial was recently promoted to be the company’s art director. “It’s a title that reflects her growing role at the company,” says Scott Brennan, CEO of Access Publishing.

Since joining Access Publishing in June 2014, Dial has successfully completed the design and layout of several of the company’s publications. Dial is responsible for the completion of her third San Luis Obispo Visitor Guide, a quarterly magazine targeted towards visitors to the Central Coast of California.

“DuPree’s contributions to Access Publishing have been essential to our company — from print publications, to our online web presence, client marketing packages, and more,” Brennan says.

Brennan hired Dial, a graphic design, new media, and advertising specialist, to oversee the graphics department and assist with online marketing. Since joining the company, Dial has worked with more than 100 clients to design creative advertising options in numerous print and online venues.

“Our clients have benefited from DuPree’s knowledge and keen eye for creating ads and content that put their business in the forefront of the market, both locally and nationally,” Brennan says.

In addition to the spring 2015 edition of the SLO Visitors Guide, Dial has designed ads and completed layout and production for the Templeton Chamber Magazine, Templeton Activity Guide, and other Access Publishing products including Paso Robles Daily News, an online news site. She also contributes to the company’s other media properties including North County Access, Your Cambria Phone Book, and the Heritage Ranch and Oak Shore directories.

“From the beginning, what I hoped to bring to Access Publishing was a new perspective and I think that I have accomplished this,” Dial said. “My goal is to grab the viewers’ attention by showing them something new without overwhelming them.”

Dial said one of the best aspects of working for Access Publishing is her co-workers, calling the team a “very energetic and supportive group.”

“I love working at Access,” she said. “Scott’s energy keeps everyone going; he is supportive, easy to connect with, and very approachable. He is a great leader and that is why his company has been such a success. It’s really nice to show up to work — every day is different and I like that.”

Dial was born in Pacific Palisades, raised in Malibu, and moved from the Los Angeles area to Paso Robles in 2011. After attending Harvard-Westlake followed by college at UC Boulder, she started her career in the film industry alongside her mom, a former executive producer and production company owner, before transitioning into television work. Dial gained experience behind the camera, as a talent agent, an assistant director, and helping with production design and set decorating. She spent 10 years in the props department with such shows as Everybody Hates Chris, Deadwood, Heroes, NCIS, and movies including Rumor Has It, Must Love Dogs, and Elizabethtown.

When the film and television industry was affected by the recession and a union strike, Dial realized that she needed a backup plan. Her experience working on various commercials revealed a love of advertising — and Dial made the decision to go back to school at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. After two and one half years studying new media/graphic design, she is in her fifth and final year of school; she will finish with a double major in new media and advertising.

When Dial moved to Paso Robles, it was a sort of “coming home” feeling — her mom was raised in the neighboring town of Shandon and moved back to the area from Los Angeles with her husband after surviving a battle with cancer and started Anjon Biologics. Dial relocated to work as the company’s creative director producing advertising and graphic design work. With her parents’ company well underway, she was offered a job at Access Publishing.

“Everything happens for a reason – that’s my motto – and I knew when Scott offered me the position that it would be a great fit,” Dial said. “I just love living in Paso Robles; there is a calmness to the area and the clients I have worked with are just amazing.”

In her spare time, Dial likes traveling and staying active. She can often be found aboard a kayak, mountain bike or hiking and exploring around the Central Coast with her dog, Sabby. She also treasures spending time with her parents whom she calls “my best friends” and wine tasting with friends.
